Ugh. I have an ear infection, and it’s so uncomfortable, and I have very little energy or patience to write a book review. Today, I will deep dive into my reading process in the Currently Reading Book Tag I saw on Zezee with Books.

How Many Books Do You Read at Once?

I usually have 3-4 books on the go at one time. I’m always listening to an audiobook because my dog is a high-energy breed that needs 2 hours of walking daily to be a happy pup. I also run a lot of 10K’s, so they help pass the time. I’m currently listening to Vintage Murder by Ngaio Marsh. I read a lot on my phone and am currently reading Friday The Rabbi Slept Late. Of course, I love reading physical books, the smell, the feel….man, physical books are great! Right now, I am powering through Death Comes to Marlow, which is really good. I also travel often, so my Kindle is indispensable- right now, I am slowly making my way through Alice Campbell’s Keep Away From Water

If You’re Reading More Than One Book at a Time, How Do You Decide When to Switch Reading to the Other Book?

If I am running audiobooks all the way, if I am reading at my house, I usually read a physical book. If I am traveling, I am reading on a device. I also have chronic pain and don’t sleep well, so I often read on my phone until I get sleepy; it’s a great way to read without waking my husband or doom scrolling for hours.

Do You Ever Switch Bookmarks While You’re Part Way Through the Book?

Confession:….I don’t use bookmarks.

Where Do You Keep the Book You’re Currently Reading?

Bedside table, on top of the dresser, the unopened bread maker that I got for Christmas in our music room, on my spot on the couch. If it’s a flat surface, it could have a book on it.

What time of Day Do You Do the Most Reading?

During the week, in the evening, usually, my husband is engrossed in grading or class prep, so I can read undisturbed for long periods. It’s more varied during the weekend depending on what projects we have planned.

How Long Do You Spend Reading at a Time?

I basically read until I feel tired, which could be hours or minutes. If I notice my mind is starting to wander or I’ve re-read the same paragraph, it’s time to sleep or get up and find other things to do.

Do You Read Hard Covers With the Dust Jacket On or Off?

I hate the feeling of dust jackets in my hand, so I continuously remove them. In fact, if given a choice, I will always choose to read a soft, supple paperback over a hardback.

Which Position Do You Mainly Use to Read?

Reclining with a special pillow or standing/running. Which is kind of weird now that I think about it.

Do You Take The Book Your Currently Reading With You Everywhere You Go?

I take a book everywhere I go, on my phone or Kindle. I try not to take physical books so they don’t get smushed in my purse.

How Often Do You Update Your Progress In the Book You’re Currently Reading on Goodreads?

Like never, I am so bad at remembering to update Goodreads. It’s like the gym membership- I am dedicated for a few months and eventually fall off the wagon.
