Hello readers! I’ve had such a great time reading mystery fiction, participating in reading challenges, writing reviews, and chatting with you in the comments.

I’ll be taking a hiatus from the blog for a little while. This means there won’t be any new posts for a few weeks over the Christmas holidays and possibly for a longer stretch of a month to two months. However, I’ll be back with more posts as soon as I can.

I wish the reason for the break was something enthralling, like a trip worldwide. Unfortunately, it’s because I’ll be having a total foot reconstruction for my right foot.

I have talked about before how I have cerebral palsy, and it mainly affects my feet and legs, over the past year, I’ve noticed a considerable decline in my ability to do the things I love like walking, running, and swimming. By the end of the summer, I was dragging my weak foot and leg behind meand after sixteen weeks of extensive physical therapy, the surgery is happening.

So tomorrow, I’ll go in for my total foot reconstruction, and thankfully, it’s my second one (I had the left one done in 2020), so I better know what to expect. One of the worst aspects of this surgery recovery is that I’m basically confined to a bed for long periods of time, and to lay the way I am supposed to, I can’t read books. So audiobooks and TV are going to be my constant companions.

I’d love to hear your suggestions for audiobooks, television shows, and movies to keep me entertained during my recovery. The total recovery time is about one year- that’s a long time- and while I’ll be back blogging long before then, I probably won’t be back to work for a year. So, I’m looking forward to your longest, most convoluted, and ridiculous suggestions.

Thank you for reading this update. Your support means a lot to me. I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season and a great start to 2025.

See you soon.

Carolyn

  1. Good luck with your surgery – I hope all goes well for you. As well as audiobooks, do you listen to podcasts? There are so many to choose from that I’m sure there will be lots to keep you distracted!

  3. I hope your surgery is successful and the recovery time isn’t too unbearable. If you need to pass some time, I’d suggest old detective radio. The Late, Late Horror Show is a good youtube channel for that — https://www.youtube.com/@thelatelatehorrorshow

  4. hope the surgery & recovery goes well! if you need a good amount of stuff to binge while you’re in bed, I’d highly recommend taskmaster—it’s a super silly panel show, and all 18 seasons are available for free on youtube! it’s been a beacon of light for me in these trying times. happy holidays!
